"Redefining Europe "
Federalism and the Union of European Democracies
Prague , Czech Republic
March 26-30, 2004

Prestigious scholars, diplomats and other high officials from both the EU and EU candidate countries were invited to consider the importance of federalism in the new EU constitution and to evaluate the role of federalism in the expanded European Union. The setting of the sessions -a conference room within the parliament of a newly democratic country ready to enter the EU- was highly symbolic and ensured that the topic was relevant.

The conference, which hosted 40 participants, was a mix of paper presentations, discussions, and multiple side events, which resulted in a poignant multi-disciplinary dialogue on the importance of federalism in Europe .
