Internship Program


Interns are essential to the work of the Ashburn Institute. Therefore they are encouraged to take initiative, work independently and explore innovative ideas to support AI's mission. They are also presented a possibility to choose their work concentration according to their interests.

Objectives:

  • Introduce graduate and undergraduate students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds to AI's mission of promoting democracy and freedom;
  • Provide students with exposure to the work of a non-profit organization in an international environment;
  • Give students the opportunity to use their education and skills to the advancement of democracy and international integration.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist in developing AI's programs;
  • Event Planning;
  • Fundraising;
  • Research Grants Opportunities and write Grant Proposals;
  • Newsletter Writing and Editing;
  • Specific Research on International Issues;
  • Website Maintenance;
  • Database Maintenance;
  • Administrative tasks.

REQUIREMENTS:

This internship is open to Master's candidates or university undergraduates preferably in their third or fourth year of study;

  • Demonstrated interest in international relations or a closely related field;
  • Excellent academic standing;
  • A good command of English;
  • Computer skills;
  • Foreign language skills are a plus.

BENEFITS:

The Ashburn Institute is ready to offer academic credit for the internship experience. A small stipend ($250/month) is provided for the duration of the internship.

DEADLINES:

GENERAL INTERNSHIPS

Full and part time internships are available year-round for periods ranging between 2 and 6 months. Dates are flexible depending on availability.

Deadlines for application are the following:

  • Fall : August 30
  • Winter : November 30
  • Spring : February 28
  • Summer : April 30

SPECIALIZED INTERNSHIPS

Specific internship positions may open on an ad hoc basis to fulfill AI's specific needs. Click here to find out about specific internship
