The Ashburn Institute promotes Euro-Atlantic cooperation and the enlargement of the Euro-Atlantic community where newly democratic nations can find support in sustaining strong democracies. The Ashburn Institute concentrates on global education as the major force to promote democratic development. With your help we will be able to promote and even expand the following of our programs and projects:
ACADEMIC CONFERENCES
Our academic conference "Redefining Europe, Federalism and the Union of European Democracies" (Prague, Czech Republic, March 26-30, 2004), marked the beginning of a series of global conferences aimed at discussing EU accession issues and EU-US relations from the federalist perspective. This annual series targets academics, engaging them in discussions through plenary sessions, panels and workshops, and allowing them to share ideas with prestigious scholars and diplomats.
UNIVERSITY AND HIGH SCHOOL VIDEOCONFERENCES
Today, the internet, videoconferencing and other modern information technologies have opened doors to global understanding and international education. This program allows to bring students from around the world in electronic distance learning conferences, projects, and study groups to examine and share views on international issues - human rights, environment, governance, globalization, health and the general human condition. Students encounter and grow to value diversity as providing a rich resource for addressing complex human problems.
FRANK FUND SCHOLARSHIPS
The Ashburn Institute administers scholarship grants supported by The Association to Unite the Democracies' Mayme and Herbert Frank Educational Trust. The program promotes the study of international integration and federalism at graduate level by awarding scholarship grants to deserving students.
GLOBAL PARTNERS
The aim of this program is to reduce educational, economic, cultural and communication divides by connecting youth, parents and teachers worldwide with one another, and with leading educational institutions, museums and major corporations, and provide cross-cultural experiences and awareness with a view toward facilitating international integration and development.
GLOBAL INTERVIEWS
The Ashburn Institute will conduct a series of interviews on such topics as International Integration, Globalization, Integration of European Countries into the EU, etc. with outstanding political and social figures. The interviews will provide with the variety of opinions of prominent people. They will be documented and posted on our website.
