Dr. Lamson has been a member of AUD for several years. As aide to the Assistant Secretary of Interior for Water Quality and Research (1966-1969), and as aide to the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Civil Defense) (1962-64), his duties included policy oversight and congressional relations, public information, and writing of congressional testimony and speeches. As research analyst in the Department of the Army's Office of Civil Defense (1964- 1966), he planned and managed a research support program on the effects of and recovery from nuclear attack. As Legislative Assistant to Senator E. L. Bartlett (Alaska) (1960-1962) he was involved in policy research and legislation with particular emphasis on Alaska, environment and population issues, natural resources, shipping, fisheries and national security.
